HANOI -- Vietnamese officials are drastically cutting the number of ministries and government agencies, aiming to eliminate red tape and redundancies in a bid to boost growth.

The ministry reorganization will likely impact 100,000 officials and civil servants, which would be the largest scale in history, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh said at a Home Affairs Ministry meeting last month.
