Xi prepares to flex his muscle with military parade

TOKYO -- China is preparing a military parade for Beijing on Sept. 3. An array of cutting-edge Chinese weapons is expected to make their way down Chang'an Avenue, a major east-west thoroughfare. The parade is intended to demonstrate China's improved military capabilities.

President Xi Jinping is set to review the troops. At the end of July, a high platform was seen being set up next to Tiananmen Square, which is to be the main venue for the military spectacle.
