SHANGHAI -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday urged citizens to remain vigilant through turbulence in 2025, as the world's second-largest economy races to develop new growth engines in the face of looming uncertainties like U.S. relations under incoming President Donald Trump.

In his annual televised New Year's Eve address, Xi said China's economy "currently faces new challenges, including external uncertainties and pressures from transitioning growth drivers."
