HANOI -- Vietnam plans to issue licenses for 5G wireless service in 2022 following pandemic delays, with coverage to start in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and other urban areas.

The nation's top three carriers -- military-owned Viettel, Vinaphone and MobiFone -- will enter the market, having operated trial services in 16 provinces and cities. In addition to major cities, service initially will be offered in high-demand areas such as industrial parks.
