Indonesian election highlights young voters' employment concerns

Jokowi's successor faces reform challenge to create middle-class jobs

JAKARTA -- Sandra Mareta, a 21-year-old business major in Jakarta, will vote for the first time in Indonesia's presidential election on Feb. 14 and is worried about getting a good job after graduation.

"Employment. I'll be entering the workforce [this] year, so that's my main concern that the new president" could hopefully address, Mareta told Nikkei Asia when asked what her hopes are for the successor to President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.
