Would-be Ant investors fear they'll be left holding the bag

Fintech giant's planned concurrent IPOs in Shanghai and Hong Kong go cold

Investors' excitement over Ant Group Co. Ltd.'s mega share sale turned to dread Tuesday when the concurrent offerings in Shanghai and Hong Kong suddenly went on ice. Now investors fear they may be left holding the bag.

That's because even though refunds on share prices are expected, investors may still be stuck paying commission fees and interest on borrowed funds, according to Zhang Zhiwei, chief executive officer of Prudential Brokerage Ltd. in Hong Kong.
