TOKYO -- While watching the commotion surrounding gender during the women's boxing events at the Paris Olympics, I find myself feeling sorry for those involved as the whole world forms opinions based on misinformation, speculation and assumptions floating around on social media.

Two athletes -- Algeria's Imane Khelif and Taiwan's Lin Yu-ting -- who were approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to participate in the Paris Olympics, were earlier disqualified from the 2023 World Boxing Championships due to a gender eligibility test implemented by the International Boxing Association (IBA).
