TOKYO -- The current baseball offseason has seen four transfers from Nippon Professional Baseball to North America's Major League Baseball, continuing an outflow of Japanese players that NPB is reckoning with.

The moves via the posting system, under which NPB teams make players available to negotiate with MLB clubs, are bringing pitchers Tomoyuki Sugano to the Baltimore Orioles, Shinnosuke Ogasawara to the Washington Nationals and Koyo Aoyagi to the Philadelphia Phillies as a non-roster invitee.
