TOKYO -- The latest edition of the Nikkei COVID-19 Recovery Index highlights a divide between Asia and the West, with the U.S. having a particularly rough time as the omicron variant drives an explosion in cases.

Asian economies occupy half the top 15 spots. So far, the region has been spared a large outbreak of the highly contagious new strain, and most countries and territories have seen their COVID-19 situations stabilize in the past month.
