SINGAPORE -- Singapore has inoculated nearly half its population with third coronavirus shots, leading Asia in terms of booster coverage, as the region fears new waves of infections fueled by the omicron variant.
Governments are expediting booster vaccine programs following explosive outbreaks in the West, hoping to avoid a repeat of the long lockdowns and states of emergency triggered by the delta strain last year. Inducements include setting expiration dates for vaccine passes and shortening intervals after primary doses.
