SHANGHAI -- China slashed its quarantine period for travelers by half on Tuesday in a significant easing of some of the world's toughest COVID-19 prevention measures, as President Xi Jinping gets set for his first trip outside the mainland in over two years.
The country's National Health Commission said a 14-day mandatory hotel quarantine for anyone entering China would be cut to one week, while a subsequent self-monitoring period of seven days would be reduced by almost half.
