HONG KONG -- Hong Kong will enforce citywide coronavirus testing without resorting to a lockdown, Chief Executive Carrie Lam said Tuesday after Beijing ordered city officials to contain the latest outbreak.

All 7.4 million residents will be required to take three nucleic acid tests over three weeks in March, and testing capacity will be raised to more than 1 million per day. Rapid antigen tests will also be provided to residents.
