SHANGHAI -- Shanghai Disney Resort suddenly shut its doors on Monday, trapping throngs of visitors inside the amusement park as China's financial capital battles a fresh COVID-19 outbreak.

Crowds thought to number in the thousands have been ordered to stay inside the sealed-off site until they test negative for the coronavirus, repeating a snap lockdown during Halloween celebrations last year that left about 30,000 revelers trapped inside.
