TOKYO -- Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications will expand its support for ASEAN cybersecurity training, helping to run ransomware drills in coordination with the bloc's member nations from fiscal 2025.

The ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Capacity Building Centre, based in Thailand, will conduct the exercises covering government agencies and companies involved in core infrastructure. A ransomware scenario will be added to the cyberdefense exercise developed by Japan's National Institute of Information and Communications Technology.
