TOKYO -- A growing number of career bureaucrats in Japan are leaving their secure jobs to seek better pay and social fulfillment at newly established companies.
The number of public servants who had found work at startups quadrupled over the two years through fiscal 2022, with many drawn to businesses focusing on global warming and other social issues. Roughly a third of civil servants who switched jobs moved to startups.
