TOKYO -- The number of women drinking unhealthy amounts of alcohol is increasing in Japan.
The share of women whose heavy drinking could lead to lifestyle-related diseases like heart disease and diabetes now exceeds that of men -- particularly among women in their 50s, pioneers of the modern female workforce -- according to a survey by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
