Chip maker to expand production capacity backed by fresh funding

HONG KONG -- China's SJ Semiconductor on Wednesday announced the completion of its Series C round of financing at $300 million. The round values the company at over $1 billion, earning it the status of unicorn.

Walden CEL Global Fund, a fund backed by China Everbright and Walden International, invested in the deal alongside other Greater China investors, including CCB Private Equity Investment Management, CCB Trust, Country Garden Venture Capital and Huatai International. The round brings the total fundraising amount to $630 million.
