Investment comes as nation's interest in electric vehicles grows

NEW DELHI -- Hero MotoCorp said it will be investing an additional 5.5 billion rupees ($66 million) in Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy.

"The board of directors of the company, at its meeting held on Sept. 4, has approved an investment of up to [5.5 billion rupees] in the rights issue of Ather Energy Private Limited," Hero MotoCorp said in a National Stock Exchange (NSE) filing.
