GUANGZHOU -- Chinese automaker BYD sold 4.27 million new cars worldwide in 2024, a 41% jump from 2023 driven by an upgrade of its technology for plug-in hybrids.

For passenger cars, electric vehicle sales grew 12% to 1.76 million units, while plug-ins rose 73% to nearly 2.49 million.
