Tesla, BYD raise China prices on EV subsidy cuts and material costs

Beijing reduces incentives for electrics by 30% as part of phaseout

GUANGZHOU -- Electric-car manufacturers like BYD and Tesla are raising prices in China, where government subsidies for such new-energy vehicles were reduced in January.

The automakers also are passing on surging materials prices to buyers.
