Asahi Kasei to disclose CO2 emissions for half its resin products

Japanese chemical maker braces for tighter EU regulations on decarbonization

As the global trend toward decarbonization intensifies, the competitiveness of chemicals makers will depend on how well they can adopt environmental measures, including providing 'green' products used in electric vehicles.

TOKYO -- Japanese chemical maker Asahi Kasei will disclose its carbon emissions from the procurement and production of about half of its resins products to customers starting in May, amid growing regulatory pressure from the European Union to achieve carbon neutrality.

The disclosure will cover 10,000 resin products used in cars and home appliances.
