TOKYO -- Japan will commit an additional $10 billion over the next five years to overseas climate financing, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced in a speech Tuesday at the COP26 conference in Scotland.

Making his first trip abroad since becoming Japan's leader in October -- and fresh off his party's election victory on Sunday -- Kishida vowed to play a leading role in Asia's fight against global warming.
