SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Egypt -- Finance was the theme Wednesday at the COP27 United Nations climate change conference, which saw a trickle of Western pledges of compensation for the ravages of global warming.
Austria promised around $50 million in funding and New Zealand pledged $20 million on the conference's so-called finance day, joining a small group that have pledged money to pay for "loss and damage."
