Japan eyes new tech to trap CO2 from power plants in basalt

TOKYO -- A joint project between Japanese and U.S. players aims to develop technologies for capturing and storing carbon dioxide emissions from thermal power plants underground within a common type of rock, Nikkei has learned.

JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration and the Japan Carbon Frontier Organization will sign a memorandum of understanding this month with the University of Wyoming on cooperation in field trials.
