TOKYO -- Toshiba and Sekisui Chemical are among some 150 companies and organizations that will form a public-private council to promote next-generation flexible solar panels, Nikkei has learned.

The council will set by this summer a capacity target for perovskite solar cells for fiscal 2040. The goal will be reflected in the upcoming renewable energy policy the Japanese government will finalize by the end of this fiscal year.
