Sumitomo, JGC to harness Japan production tech for floating wind turbines

More than 20 companies to join consortium to manufacture platforms

TOKYO --Trading company Sumitomo Corp. and engineering group JGC Holdings are joining others to form a consortium to mass-produce platforms used in floating offshore wind farms, Nikkei has learned.

Roughly 20 domestic and foreign companies are expected to participate in the consortium to establish manufacturing technology, with plans to build 100 platforms a year by 2030.
