TOKYO -- The Czech Republic's ambassador to Japan gave his emphatic support for the release of treated wastewater from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant on Thursday, saying it is "the only way" to solve the problem and something that should not be politicized.

"From the scientific point of view, there is nothing that should be done differently. And I believe that this is exactly the only way that the Fukushima upstream water could be released," Ambassador Martin Klucar told Nikkei in an interview in Tokyo.
