NEW DELHI -- The Indian government's vaunted Cheetah reintroduction project faces an uncertain future after nine cats died less than a year in.

The ninth death was reported this week in Kuno National Park, in the central state of Madhya Pradesh. The cause was not immediately clear, but it raised further alarm over the project among conservationists and wildlife experts.
