TOKYO -- The 11 member countries of a regional decarbonization initiative led by Japan will work together to promote financial measures to support Asia's transition to a greener economy, they agreed on Monday at their inaugural summit meeting in Tokyo.
The Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) is a framework proposed by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida last year for Asia's efforts to shift away from fossil fuels, seeking a relevant decarbonization approach for a region where many countries still rely on fossil fuels. It comprises Japan, Australia and all of the ASEAN members except Myanmar.
