TOKYO -- The Japanese government is preparing to release water from the disaster-struck Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant as early as Thursday. It will hold a ministerial meeting on Tuesday morning to decide the specific timing of the release.

This follows efforts to gain the understanding of local communities and neighboring countries.
