TOKYO -- Japan will discharge treated water from the disaster-struck Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean as soon as Thursday if weather and marine conditions are fit.
The decision, approved by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's cabinet on Tuesday morning, comes despite concerns raised by communities around the plant and in neighboring countries.
