Suzuki to open Indian biogas plants from 2025 with partners

$27m project to produce carbon-neutral automobile fuel from cow manure

TOKYO -- Suzuki Motor has agreed to build four biogas refining plants in India with two local partners, with the facilities slated to begin operations from 2025, the Japanese automaker said Wednesday.

Suzuki, Banas Dairy and the government-affiliated National Dairy Development Board look to spend 2.3 billion rupees ($27.6 million) on the project. The four plants will be built in the Banaskantha district in the western state of Gujarat.
