TOKYO -- Group of Seven foreign ministers urged humanitarian pauses to the fighting in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, as the bloc seeks to present a united front on the issue while also supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russia and countering China's military ambitions.
Israel has vowed to destroy Hamas, which controls Gaza, after the militant group's deadly attack on southern Israel on Oct. 7. With no end in sight to the fighting, the G7 is struggling to balance its response to multiple geopolitical challenges at the same time.
