BANGKOK -- The Thai parliament is set to discuss bills on marriage equality that would make Thailand the first nation in Southeast Asia to legalize same-sex marriage.

The draft bills were submitted on Thursday after the cabinet approved them on Tuesday. "This bill will allow same-sex couples to have the same rights to marry as men and women," Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin told reporters after Tuesday's weekly cabinet meeting.
