TOKYO -- Japanese companies need to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing business environment, industry leaders said on Monday, saying those that embrace disruption will reap the most gains.

Disruptions include new technologies such as generative AI, but also a more volatile currency market, global pandemics and geopolitical upheavals, they said. Calls for flexibility and adaptability were a common refrain at the Global Management Dialogue, an annual forum hosted here by Nikkei and Swiss business school IMD.
