HONG KONG -- Protesters in Hong Kong crowded onto subway platforms and tried to prevent train doors from closing, creating delays during the Tuesday morning rush.

The intentional obstruction of the public transport network is part of the "noncooperation movement" initiated by some hard-core demonstrators. Protests, triggered by the now-suspended extradition bill, have ballooned into a bigger backlash against the city's government and authorities in Beijing.
