HONG KONG -- The Epoch Times, a media outlet backed by the China-born religious sect Falun Gong that is sharply critical of the Communist Party, is set to end publication of its print edition in Hong Kong next week.

The organization has grown into a global -- and controversial -- digital media player associated in the West with right-wing politics. But its publisher described the challenges it has been up against in Hong Kong, where press freedom has been under heavy pressure from authorities in recent years. The U.S. just issued a renewed warning to businesses about a tightening national security environment.
