HONG KONG -- Hong Kong's national security police raided the family home of exiled activist Simon Cheng on Wednesday morning, taking his parents and two elder sisters away for questioning, a police source familiar with the matter told Nikkei Asia.
The move comes after security forces added Cheng and other activists to a list of overseas dissidents last month, signaling an intensification of pressure by Beijing on pro-democracy activists. The national security police vowed in a statement last month to pursue wanted dissenters overseas "till the very end."
