HONG KONG -- Hong Kong media mogul Jimmy Lai Chee-ying is testifying in his own defense in a long-running national security trial.

The founder of shuttered pro-democracy news outlet Apple Daily, and one of the most outspoken critics of China, took the stand last week in the closely watched trial, which was delayed for months and is expected to continue for months to come.
