WASHINGTON -- Huawei Technologies' HarmonyOS operating system could be used by China for espionage, and the U.S. government should work with allies and partners to stop its global spread, American lawmakers warned on Friday.

In a letter seen by Nikkei Asia, Republican John Moolenaar and Democrat Raja Krishnamoorthi -- the chairman and ranking member of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party -- urge senior members of the Trump administration to share with allies intelligence on the threat the operating system poses.
