MADRID -- South Korea and Japan should engage in dialogue without having to resolve historical issues first, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol said while returning from the Thursday close of the NATO summit here.

"We must reject the approach that without progress between the two countries on historical issues, there can be no discussion on current and future issues," Yoon told South Korean media on the presidential plane.
