TOKYO -- The Japanese government will temporarily invalidate special visas issued to foreign nationals who meet certain conditions, Nikkei has learned, in an effort to curb the spread of the omicron coronavirus variant.

The suspension, which may affect tens of thousands of people waiting to enter Japan, will initially run for one month.
