PHNOM PENH -- As Cambodia prepares to chair ASEAN in 2022, Prime Minister Hun Sen has inserted himself into the center of regional efforts to resolve the crisis in Myanmar, vowing to visit the country early next year.

In a move diverging from the bloc's cautious approach to the escalating conflict, the strongman leader has extended an olive branch to the military regime that overthrew Myanmar's elected leaders.
