TOKYO -- The head of Myanmar's military regime has urged China to provide economic and technological assistance, as the loss of key military outposts to armed ethnic groups in recent months has taken a toll of the war-torn Southeast Asian economy.

Min Aung Hlaing, making his first visit to China since seizing power in 2021, held talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang and investors on Wednesday, Myanmar state media reported, noting the general's appeal for greater cooperation on matters such as energy security.
