BANGKOK/YANGON -- Myanmar's electoral commission dissolved pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi's political party effective Wednesday, after a failed attempt to get the party to participate in an upcoming general election.

The commission is under the control of the military that took over the government in February 2021.
