BANGKOK/YANGON -- More than 500,000 people in Myanmar have fled their homes since armed ethnic groups began a major offensive against the military in late October.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported the newest figure on Friday, amid concerns of an escalating humanitarian disaster.
