BANGKOK/YANGON -- Myanmar's parallel National Unity Government has suffered a series of setbacks in the armed campaign against the military government as other rebel groups seek dialogue with the national army in response to diplomatic pressure from China.

NUG Acting President Duwa Lashi La issued a statement this month congratulating the Arakan Army after the major ethnic armed organization captured a key regional military headquarters in the western Myanmar state of Rakhine.
