Government gives no word when results will be ready after soft deadline ends

YANGON/BANGKOK -- Myanmar's intensifying civil war is hampering progress of the country's census, casting doubts over the prospect of a new election planned for next year.

The country's census was scheduled to last for 15 days through Tuesday but has shown no signs of completion.
