SEOUL -- North Korea this week slammed Japan's plans to beef up its defense policy as "blackhearted" and an "arms buildup for reinvasion."

The isolated nation warned Japan of harsh consequences, stating that Tokyo will realize it "made a wrong and very dangerous" decision and that Pyongyang's displeasure will be shown "in practice."
