South Korea's Yoon urges IAEA to keep closer eye on nuclear North

U.N. watchdog's chief pledges to safeguard international nonproliferation regime

SEOUL -- South Korea's president urged the head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog to step up monitoring of North Korea's weapons program in a meeting here Thursday.

Yoon Suk-yeol called on Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, to support efforts to deter the North from engaging in nuclear provocations and to denuclearize the country, according to the presidential office.
